We’re off with a ROAR! Students and staff quickly engaged in their school routines. It is great to see so many students with ROARS stickers. The stickers acknowledge the positive behaviors that have been noted. ROARS is our schoolwide positive behavior intervention system (PBIS) in place at WES.

Open House is scheduled for September 16th. We’ll begin at 6:00 in the multi-purpose room with a quick review of ROARS before moving on to classrooms. This summer several staff members attended training on Stepping up to ROARS which will provide another layer of support for those students who would benefit from additional support by staff. We have PBIS booklets for all families that will be available at Open House.
We are beginning year two of our 21st century grant. We have a new grant director named Clea Beriau who will oversee the grant between Arlington and Wardsboro schools. We also have a new site director, Kristen Fehrenbach, who will oversee Wardsboro’s portion of the grant. Kristen is a parent of one of our students and has experience with after school programming. We are very interested in how we can further support children and families. Kristen included a survey in our newsletter this week. Please take a few minutes to fill this out. The first Connections session will begin the week of September 20th. Information will be sent home next week for the spelling bee class with Mrs. Shakespeare for 5th and 6th graders. This class will start the week of 9/13 so they are ready for the district-wide spelling bee. More news to follow!
All of the changes that have taken place inside and out look great! Thank you to Kim and Jason Lazelle who redid the flower bed enclosures. A thank you to WW Building supply that donated half of the cost of the wood. Lots of painting was done – the exterior of the building, the intermediate classrooms and the building entrance. We also have new technology in the classrooms and the library. Tammy and Lucas Bates volunteered their time to paint a portion of our library that now holds an interactive white board. Thanks to all who worked on these improvements this summer.
Have a great Labor Day weekend!
Daisy Girl Scouts (Grades K-1)
Registration and first meeting will be held on Monday, September, 13th 3:00 – 4:30 pm at the Wardsboro Town Hall
Parents will need to be present to register your child. Registration is $12.00/yr. Financial Aid is available.
Meetings will be held every Monday from shortly after 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Girls will be able to ride the bus to the Wardsboro Town Hall, but will need a note to do so. If there are transportation issues, please let us know, we’ll do our best to work something out. We don’t want anyone excluded because of transportation.
We are currently seeking volunteers. Next school year we will be moving on to Brownies and we are looking for a couple people to continue Daisy’s. If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering to help with our troop activities, taking over Daisy’s next year, or would like to lead another age group, please contact Virginia Pearson at 896-1042.
Cub Scouts
Attention all 1st through 5th grade boys. It is time to join Cub Scouts! Come to our September Den Meeting on Wednesday, September 8 at the Wardsboro Town Hall.
